Established in 1971, Second Chance, Inc. is a non-profit,community based counseling and recovery center.  Our target population is the Tri-Cities (Fremont, Newark, Union City) and the Eden area, but we actually see people from throughout Alameda County and beyond.

Our stated philosophy is "We will provide the highest quality services or referrals possible in a timely manner to anyone requesting them."

Over the years we have seen thousands of people for problems related to alcohol and drugs, family problems, homelessness, marital difficulties, suicide, codependency, runaway, finances, legal problems, incorrigible youth, divorce or separation, domestic violence, stress, child abuse, parenting skills, and impulse control....to name just a few.

Some of our counselors are degreed or licensed, but we are first and foremost a community-based agency.  We rely heavily on people who have themselves worked through difficult situations (Whether drugs, parenting, or whatever) to work with people dealing with similar problems.  We believe strongly in using the resources of people with concrete experience to help those who are still struggling.

Our voluntary services are offered free of charge.  Diversion services---DUI, PC1000 Drug Diversion, Domestic  Non-Violence Support, HIV/AIDS Education Workshop, and Co-Parenting Group---are provided on a fee-for-service basis.
